The story
We've planted an acre of sweetcorn in our neighbouring field, and from Tuesday 18 August we're throwing the gate open. Bring a basket, pull on your wellies, and pick your corn straight from the plant, the way it should be eaten. We'll keep going every day until it's gone.
Sweetcorn loses its sugar the moment it's picked, which is why supermarket cobs never quite taste right. Ours go from the field to your kitchen in the time it takes to drive home. There's no comparison.
This is a small, local, one off event, and we've kept it that way on purpose so it never feels like a crowd. There'll be soft drinks at the gate and hay bales to sit on while you take it in. The rest is the rows, the baskets and the August sky.
What you get
Pick as many cobs as you like, at your own pace. No clock running, just you and the rows.

Little ones welcome, and well-behaved dogs on leads too. It's a working field, so we can't always guarantee easy going for pushchairs, and sturdy shoes are a safer bet if the ground's been wet.

The field still runs in light rain, and sweetcorn picking is a wellies activity. If weather is genuinely severe (heavy storms, unsafe conditions), the field may need to close for safety.
£1 per cob, picked yourself from the rows. Minimum 5 cobs, maximum 20 cobs per visit, plenty for dinner, the freezer and a few neighbours.
Yes, well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in the field. Please clean up after them.
We do our best to keep the rows manageable, but it's a real working field rather than a paved path, so ground conditions change with the weather and we can't promise easy pushchair or wheelchair access on every visit. Wellies or sturdy shoes are a good idea either way. If you have specific accessibility needs, email us in advance and we'll do our best to help you plan your visit.
