The story
We've planted an acre of sweetcorn in our Warburton field, and for ten days in mid-September we're throwing the gate open. Bring a basket, pull on your wellies, and pick as much corn as you can carry — straight from the plant, the way it should be eaten.
Sweetcorn loses its sugar the moment it's picked, which is why supermarket cobs never quite taste right. Ours go from the field to your kitchen in the time it takes to drive home. There's no comparison.
This is a small, local, one-off event. Two-hour slots keep the field calm and uncrowded. There'll be tea, coffee, soft drinks and a few snacks waiting at the gate. The rest is just you, the rows, and the September sky.
What you get
Wander the rows for a full two hours. Pick as much sweetcorn as your basket can hold. We'll show you how to spot the ripest cobs.
Tea, coffee, soft drinks and a few homemade snacks available at the gate. Sit on a hay bale, take in the view, no rush.
Little ones welcome — pushchair-friendly paths between the rows. Dogs on leads. Group rates for 6+.

Questions, answered
The field still runs in light rain — sweetcorn picking is a wellies activity. If weather is genuinely severe (heavy storms, unsafe conditions), we'll email everyone booked for that slot the day before with the option to rebook or refund.
As much as you can carry in one basket or bag during your two-hour slot. Most people leave with 15–25 cobs — plenty for dinner, the freezer and a few neighbours.
Yes — well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in the field. Please clean up after them.
The rows between the corn are flat and pushchair-friendly. The site is a working field, so the surface isn't tarmac — wellies or sturdy shoes recommended. If you have specific accessibility needs, email us before booking and we'll do our best to help.
Bookings can be rescheduled up to 48 hours before your slot. Refunds available up to 7 days before — after that we'll do our best but it depends on demand.
